Evening Grossbeak on the front deck before we leave for Graeagle, one hour north of Truckee
Then on to hiking in the Lakes Basin - First day was to the Little Bear, Big Bear, Long Lake Loop. Alpine Lakes around 6,500 feet. The wildflowers were blooming everywhere we looked.
Evening hike around one of Graeagle's SIX golf courses
Then back up hiking to Jamison and Rock Lake from Grass Lake the next day...
Crossing a log bridge. Very cush indeed.
Zachary getting ready to plunge into Rock Lake
Little sprout getting inspiration from the old man...
Bear claw marks on a tree - this guy must have been pretty big
Old mining buildings near the trailhead. We did not go to the museum after the hike in the rustic State Park, but it's probably worth a visit to read about the mining history of this region.
Then down to Graeagle for a well deserved ice cream, where the entire town is still owned by a single person (I'm told). He certainly likes the paint colors because every building in town is painted with the same pallet.
