Jakes Peak with Jeff and Everett
The rest of these are from our ski up and down Jakes...
Everett caught me skiing down here through the big trees...
And the movie version...
Fantastic cold snow conditions the day after the storm. Steep up track as usual at Jake's Peak (west shore of Lake Tahoe). We skied down the south-east slope from summit to highway, with no flat spots even though we got a bit tangled up in the willows at the very end.

Rose Knob - more January spring skiing video
Seeking January Corn Snow on Mt. Rose Knob, Nevada overlooking Lake Tahoe
Temperatures in the mid-50's slight wind, we climb up from the Mt. Rose Highway to the summit of Mt. Rose Knob (9,710 feet) to harvest January corn snow on the south facing aspect. There are so many ways down from the top, simply need to come back again.

Seeking January Corn Snow on Castle Peak - Video

Seeking January Corn Snow on Castle Peak, CA near Donner Summit
It's been almost three weeks since we've had fresh snow but the temperature have been mild with cool nights, so the corn snow has arrived early. Even though there is a narrow window and aspect when the snow is in good shape for skiing down, the touring is fast and easy. Today Jeff and I climbed the south slope of Castle Peak from the Boreal exit ramp on Donner Summit. The sky was clear and we had views west to the coastal mountains, south to the Peaks of Squaw Valley, and east to Mt. Rose. Thanks Jeff for coming along and putting up with me taking all these video clips....
